FIRST GLA WAR -- AKA WORLD WAR III

GLOBAL WAR: The conflict began in the year 2020 when the terrorist organization known as the Global Liberation Army (GLA) launched a devastating nuclear attack on Beijing, the capital of the People's Republic of China. China's response was swift. After driving the GLA from their soil, China invaded several pro-GLA countries in Central Asia. As retribution for the attack on Beijing, Chinese used a nuclear weapon to destroy the mountain GLA stronghold outside the capital city of Aldastan. When the GLA threatened bio-ICBM attacks on the West, the United States joined in the conflict on the side of China and crushed their weapons of mass destruction. However the GLA regrouped and launched a series of devastating attacks on American interests. First they stole an American particle cannon which they used to wipe out the US Mediterranean Fleet. Afterward, a GLA strike team raided a factory on the US West Coast. Greatly embarrassed by this breach of security added to the loss of their Mediterranean Fleet, the President ordered a total withdrawal from all overseas bases. The GLA forced the American retreat from Europe and destroyed the US Central Command in Germany. The People's Republic of China stepped in and helped the Europeans eradicate the GLA presence on the continent.

IMMEDIATE AFTERMATH: The war ended with the total defeat of the GLA at the hands of China. Most surviving GLA leaders were brought to trial. The United States had retreated back into isolationism to focus on Homeland Security. China and the European Union form the European Unity League. China is now the world's leading superpower.

POST-WAR PERIOD (Five years after the events of Command & Conquer: Generals and Command & Conquer: Generals - Zero Hour)

UNITED STATES OF AMERICA: For several years, the United States kept out of world affairs and concentrated on Homeland Security to assure another incursion never occurred again. When it was learned that neo-GLA sympathizers were attempting to take power in Mexico and Cuba, US President Alexis Alexander called on the leaders of both countries to take action. However when neo-GLA terror cells staged attacks on several US border towns, the President ordered the invasion and occupation of both Mexico and Cuba. This angered the Russians and Chinese who both condemned the invasion and demanded that America immediately cease their attacks and withdrawal unconditionally. China called an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council at the UN secondary headquarters in Geneva to discuss the US invasions of Mexico and Cuba. At the meeting, the Russians and Chinese called for sanctions against the United States and for America to be temporarily suspended the UN Security Council. The UN Security Council voted in favor of Russia and China's proposal. Even America's former allies France and Britain voted in favor due to several factors which included the fact they were under Chinese influence as well as the fact they were pissed off with America for abandoning them to the GLA. However the Russians and Chinese were unable to take any significant action to stop the US invasions due to the superior technology of the United States which included the particle cannon and other laser weaponry. While the US were still technically on the UN Security Council, America would no longer be able to vote or veto any proposals taken to the UN Security Council. The US President met with several Latin American leaders in San Diego, California where they signed a new alliance treaty. In 2023, Argentina was the first to benefit from this alliance during the Second Falklands War from which Argentina emerged victorious. In 2024, American-Israeli friendship was rekindled as Israel's petition to join the San Diego Pact was accepted much to the outrage of the Arabian Hegemony. Several members of the San Diego Pact not under UN Sanctions secretly act as intermediaries for trade between the United States and members of the Pacific Treaty Organization, bypassing the UN embargo.

RUSSIAN CONFEDERACY: Shortly after the end of the First GLA War, the Russian Federation joined the Eurasian Unity League and assisted China in the occupation of Kazakhstan. Later on, Kazakhstan became a member state of the new Russian Confederacy which consisted of Russian, Belarus, Azerbaijan, and now Kazakhstan. The Russian Confederacy remained a part of the Eurasian Unity League and took up the Russian seat on the UN Security Council. In 2024, the Russian Confederacy invaded and occupied the former Soviet republic of Georgia. The UN Security Council voted that Russia's occupation of Georgia was perfectly legal. The United States was against the occupation however as their suspension from the UN Security Council prevented them from being able to veto the resolution.

PACIFIC TREATY ORGANIZATION: With the end of America's superpower status, Australia and several other Pacific Island countries formed the new Pacific Treaty Organization. Indonesia and the new Union of Japan and Korea were quick to join PTO (South & North Korea reunified under Seoul after the Second Korean War sometime before 2020). Eventually even Canada and several Latin American countries with a coast along the Pacific joined. While the members of the Pacific Treaty Organization officially backs the UN sanctions against the United States for its latest aggression, they secretly trade with the Americans anyway, using San Diego Pact member states not under UN sanctions as intermediaries. In addition, Canada maintains the NORAD Agreement with the United States.

PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA: China annexed territory from several occupied countries in Central Asia. Sometime later, China invaded, occupied, and annexed Taiwan since America was no longer involved in the defense of the latter. China is pretty much the de facto leader of the Eurasian Unity League with the Russian Confederacy as second, though both countries state the European Union has equal partnership as do all members. China's influence over Britain and France made it possible for the temporary suspension of the United States from the UN Security Council in response to America's invasions of Mexico and Cuba.

EUROPEAN UNION: A supranational union consisting of most of the European countries. For many years, the EU was based economics and politics. However that changed in 2020 when the so-called Global Liberation Army invaded Europe while the United States unilaterally withdrew from the continent. After China helped liberate Europe from GLA occupation, the nations of Europe decided to strengthen their unity. The European Union Force (EUFOR) was expanded to become the official military for the European Union. Each member state of the EU assigned nearly 2/3 of their armed forces to EUFOR while the remaining 1/3 would act as sort of a National Guard for their native country. The People's Republic of China officially replaced the United States as the largest foreign defender of Europe with the the Chinese and Europeans forming the Eurasian Unity League which officially replaced NATO. Resentment against America was extremely high with many believing the US had abandoned them to the GLA. This got even worse in 2022 with the US invasions of Mexico and Cuba. At an emergency meeting at UN secondary headquarters in Geneva, the Russians and Chinese pushed for sanctions against the US as well as their suspension from the UN Security Council. All European countries on the UN Security Council, including France and Britain, agreed on Russia and China's proposals.

SOUTH ASIAN UNION: EU-like organization consisting of India and several other South Asian countries.

ARABIAN HEGEMONY: Formed by the members of the Arab League seeking to rebuild after the destruction of the GLA.

UNITED AFRICAN STATES: The African nations (other then Arab) decided to unite for reasons I have yet to determine.
